Wairoa film fest returns

Māori and Pasifika filmmakers will gather on the East Coast this weekend for the annual Wairoa Māori Film Festival.

Full length features screening at the festival include Mahana, The Price of Peace, Orphans & Kingdoms, Hunt For The Wilderpeople, 3 Wise Cousins and Born To Dance, as well as short films from indigenous filmakers all over the world, multi-media installations and a key note speech from Dr Rangimarie Rose Pere.

The films will be screened at the Gaiety Theatre in Wairoa and Nuhaka marae, where guests can also stay during the festival.

$10,000 worth of prizes will be presented to winners at the Gala Evening on Saturday night.
