Ripeka Goddard's very first picture book is inspired by tales of eeling growing up in rural Aotearoa. Tuna rāua ko Hiriwa tells the story of the beautiful tūrehu (water nymph) Hiriwa and how the tuna (eel) got its silver belly but forever had to live in the dark depths of the river.
Illustrator Kimberley Andrews is a biologist and geologist. This is the duo's first collaboration.
